Any good things you do you shall find it with God

By Imam Lavdrim Hamja – Kenosha, July 01, 2011

Full Prays is due to God alone, the Creator of the worlds, which He says: “Whatever good you do you shall find it with God with a better and greater reward from your Lord”. May peace and blessing be upon our Messenger, Muhammad (a.s) which he says:“Wealth never decreases while giving alms.” Peace and blessings be upon his family, his companions and upon all of those who follow his path and guidance until the Day of Judgment.

From God’s kindness and generosity is that He created man and that gave him sustenance in everything so he may live a happy and prosperous life.

“And He gives you of all that you ask for. But if you count the favors of Allah, never will you be able to number them. Verily, man is given up to injustice and ingratitude”. Ibrahim: 34

The majority of humankind believes of this world and the hereafter, but not all work equally for the both worlds because we will find that perhaps 90 percent work for this world and 10 percent work for the hereafter. We will find people, which God has distinguished from other people with wealth from His kindness, but they don’t know the proper way to thank God as it should. That is why He says. “Verily, man is given up to injustice and ingratitude”. Ibrahim: 34

The purpose of human creation is to try and win God’s pleasure in this world and to enter paradise in the hereafter. God Almighty appreciates these efforts where He says in the Holy Qur’an:

O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it.” Al-Inshiqaq: 6

Respected brothers and sisters, the path of goodness, which leads towards success and satisfaction with God are infinite sufficient is for a man to perform a deed with sincerity for God and He will reward him. But, God Almighty tell us that man will never reach that complete sincerity and righteousness until he spends, to give of that which is most dear to him. God says in the Qur’an:

“Never will you attain the good [reward] until you spend from that which you love. And whatever you spend – indeed, Allah is Knowing of it.” Al-Imran: 92

Through this verse, God not only requires us to give to receive His pleasure, but to give that which is most precious and most loved by us, therefore of that which is most adorable. If a person gives something that he does not like, or that which he does not need, he only gave, but did not attain sincerity, because he gave something that he has no use for it, or he does not like. However, whoever gives that which he loves for himself, for example man loves wealth, and then he has attained that proper sincerity.

God says in the Qur’an:

“O you who believe! Give of the good things which you have (honorably) earned, and of the fruits of the earth which We have produced for you, and do not even aim at getting anything which is bad, in order that out of it you may give away something, when you yourselves would not receive it except with closed eyes. And know that Allah is Free of all wants, and worthy of all praise.” Bakkare: 267

Believing brothers and sisters, now that we heard these verses, let us see how the companions of the Prophet have acted when they heard these verses and let us heed to their examples as how they executed these Quranic verses:

Anas Ibn Malik transmits: Abu Talha was among the wealthiest people among the Ansars. He had a well across the prophet’s Mosque, which he liked more than anything else. The prophet frequently would go there to drink water from that well. When this verse came down: “You will never reach complete righteousness until you give of that which is most loved to you” Abu Talha went to the Prophet and said: “O messenger of God, God says “You will never reach complete righteousness until you give of that which is most loved to you” but the thing that I like most is the Well Hae(name of the well), that I will give in order that I might attain the sincerity and the pleasure of God. Give this well O messenger of God to him who Allah has ordered you. The Prophet said: “Indeed, this is wealth that makes you win; this is wealth that makes you win. I will accept it but distribute it among your kin.” Abu Tahla said: “I shall do that, o Messenger of God. Then he gave it to his relatives. (Ahmad).

Amr Ibn Dinar tells us: When this verse came down: “You will never reach complete righteousness until you give of that which is most loved to you” Zayd took his horse, Sebel (name of the horse) which he liked most and went to the Prophet and said: Give this horse, O messenger of God to whom you want. Prophet (a.s) gave it to Usame, Zayd’son. Then, Zayd said: “O Messenger of God, I did not say to give alms to my son! The Prophet said: “I have accepted your sadaka. (Meaning you have earned your reward).

Ibn Umar when he would like something, he would give it on alms (sadaka), as soon as the verse was revealed.

The true belief and righteousness cannot be achieved with words alone, but with firm conviction in your heart and putting it in practice. It is not important how much you give rather it is important how you give.

The pride and generosity the companions and the later generation they did not attain this with words alone, but with actions, even though many years have passed by, still are remembered by us with pride, but we do not proceed any further, we don’t implement them.

Healing of the disease of stinginess is not achieved or heals with medical prescription, but with lives daily actions. No one has ever been healed just by reading the prescription, but only while taking the medicine in the manner prescribed and in time.

Improvement and change of this deplorable state of the Muslims today cannot be achieved by words alone, but with concrete actions, of which stems from faith and the righteousness of the true believer.

Why today there isn’t among the Muslims such a man like Othman Ibn Awfan, in which he contributed to Islam many times of his wealth, where Islam needed it most. He gave a wakif to the Muslims and prepared, equipping the whole Usra’s army. The Prophet was so please that said to him: ” ما ضر عثمان ما فعل بعد اليوم ، ما ضر عثمان ما فعل بعد اليوم “Nothing will harm Othman after this day” “Nothing will harm Othman after this day’. (Let him work whatever he wishes he has earned the paradise).

Praise is to God, there were such man of stature during the time of the prophet and there will be again such men in Prophet’s ummah, which contribute with their wealth for the good of religion and the believers. In our own mosque here we have such examples. May God Almighty reward you in this world and in the hereafter. But let us not forget, that, those who began first to do something good, they not only have the rewards of that deed, but a portion of the rewards of those who act on that work until the Day of Judgment.

Let us heed to this message of our prophet:

Xherir Ibn Abdullah narrates: One day before noon, while staying with the prophet some poor people came to us, almost in nakiedness. They were from the tribe of Mudarr. The face of the prophet changed in a moment when he saw them in that deplorable state. He would go in and come out constantly. He ordered Bilall to call Edhan. He prayed two raka, and then he delivered a speech. “O you people! Fear Allah who create you from a single drop and from that He created her companion, from that men and women were multiplied. And fear Allah on which His name you take an oath, honor your kin, because God is observant over you.” “O you who have believed, fear God and each one of you should see what he has prepared for tomorrow.” Each one of you should give a dinar or derhem or even half a date (monetary value of that era), a man stud up and brought some dates, then right after him people began to give, until there were two big mounds with food and clothes. I saw that the Prophet’s face began to shine, and then he said: “Whoever does a good sunnah in Islam (brings something new and good) he has the reward of that sunnah and a portion of those who work on that sunnah, without any reduction from their rewards. And whoever does a bad sunnah in Islam (brings something new and bad), he has the wrath of that sunnah and a portion of those working that sunnah, without any reduction on their wrath.”(Muslim)

Respected brothers and sisters, certainly one day we shall leave this world and behind we will leave all our wealth, houses, family, vehicles, apartments, money and so on. Nothing will befriend us in this road of no return and everlasting of the hereafter, except belief, sincerity and the good deeds and actions we have done in this world.

Therefore, who wants the virtues and blessings of this world, he will inherit and have them in the hereafter, even greater, then contemplate in haste goodness and charity as long as you are alive:

“And spend from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, “My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous. But never will Allah delay a soul when its time has come. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do.”Munafikun: 11

O Allah, forgive our mistakes and make us among the believers who give without fear in the path of You! AMIN
