“If you help God (and His cause) He will help you and plant your feet firmly”

All thanks are due to God, the Lord of the worlds, and we send greetings and salutations to our beloved prophet and the messenger of God, Muhammad (a.s.)

“If you help God (and His cause) He will help you and plant your feet firmly (to make you strong).”

God Almighty has promised his servants and believers that He will help them against their enemies, saying:

“O you who be live! If you will help ( the cause of) Allah, He will help you and plant your feet firmly (to make you strong)Muhammad:7

This is a promise of God and God never breaks His promise.

“Who fulfills His covenant better than Allah”? Tawbe:111

“That is the promise of Allah, Allah never departs from His promise; but most men do not understand.” Rum:6

Brothers and sisters, dear believers in Islam, God’s promise in victory and help is indeed real and promising because He Himself have said:

“Allah will by no means give the unbelievers a way against the believers”. Nissa:111

These promises of Allah come with some conditions which are made clear from the aforementioned verses that we have just cited. Therefore in order to seek Allah’s help and victory, we must implement in punctuality and all seriousness His demands and duties which we have been prescribed from God. We must comply and be totally submissive to God. Are we true believers, in which God has promised His help and victory? Under these situations that we Muslims are today and the reality which we live daily do we really deserve that help and victory from Allah? Her’s the true believers who Allah has promised those help and victory, they are labeled in the Qu ran where God says:

“Successful indeed are the believers, Who are humble in their prayers, And who keep aloof from what is vain And who are givers of poor-rate, And who guard their private parts, except before their mates or those whom their right hands possess, for they surely are not blamable, But whoever seeks to go beyond that, these are they that exceed the limits; And those who are keepers of their trusts and their covenant, These are they who are the heirs, who shall inherit the Paradise; they shall abide therein.” Muminun: 1-11

These are the qualities of the believers which they deserve the help and victory of God in this world and in the hereafter a great pleasure in His Heaven.

That is why the Muslims today, are in dire and difficult situation, because they don’t have the qualities in deserving Gods help and victory. Not all of them pray regularly, and among those who pray the question arises, in what form or manner are they praying? Is it simply a physical ritual that we make few movements and somehow believe that we have accomplished our duty or do we concentrate in fear and respect while praying asking God for guidance, forgiveness, power, help, and protection and so on? It is heartbreaking to observe when the prayer is finished, especially during Fridays prayers, without finishing the “Salaam” people are walking out the door and gather in patches and start idle talk, as if they were not in prayer rather as if they were in some kind of useless debate or a concert or somewhere else, except namaz. It doesn’t end with this but they hinder others from praying the sunna of the prophet.

If we speak of zakkat, how much wealth do Muslims possess, how much wealth were given to them by Allah, but what percentage of them give zakkat? It is easier for them to spend for coffee, and recreational things even to go as far as in haram rather than to give the due zakkat, but those who contribute in the way of Allah are very few, except those whom Allah has mercy upon.

I’m not saying all this to be a pacifist but this is a bitter reality of the Muslims today. That’s why we suffer and we will continue to suffer if we don’t return back and practice and fulfill the obligations of Islam.

When the Muslims were true believers, Allah would help them with Angels:

“And Allah did certainly assist you at Badr when you were weak; be careful of (your duty to) Allah then, that you may give thanks. When you said to the believers: Does it not suffice you that your Lord should assist you with three thousand of the angels sent down? Yea! if you remain patient and are on your guard, and they come upon you in a headlong manner, your Lord will assist you with five thousand of the havoc-making angels. And Allah did not make it but as good news for you, and that your hearts might be at ease thereby, and victory is only from Allah, the Mighty, and the Wise.” Al Imran: 123-126

God helped the Muslims in Bader when they were few in numbers, but they deserved the help and victory of God because whatever means they had they fulfilled them, then they turned in prayer in humbleness and seeking God’s help and indeed He helped them.

Brothers and sister, is there anyone more powerful than God, wealthier than Him, more promising than Him, Swifter than Him, more Accepting than Him? There is none and never there will be. Then, why are we distancing from Him surely we’ll be losers in this world and in the hereafter. Why don’t we completely comply to His will but rather we continue in our vain desires being confronted with many misfortunes, problems, suffering, distress, dictatorship, rulers that are dictators, murders, thieves, which steal from their people billions and billions.

Indeed Allah has said:

“Your Lord has said: Supplicate to Me and your prayers shall be answered” The Prophet (a.s) has said:

“God is good and he accepts only that which is good… then he mentioned a certain person who had traveled long way, tired and covered in dust raising his hands towards the sky and said : O God! O God! His food was haram, his clothing was haram, his drinking was haram, he was raised eating and clothing in haram, how will his prayer be answered?

“O young man! Let me teach you some words: Safeguard Allah ( his cause) and He will guard you. Safeguard Allah (his cause) you shall find him in front of you. If you pray, pray only to Allah. If you seek help, seek help only from Allah. Know that if all the Muslims were to gather to help you in a certain thing, it will be at no avail, it is only that which Allah has decreed upon you, even if they were to gather to harm you, they will not succeed it is only what is decreed by God.” Tirmidhi/Sahi

Dear Brothers and sisters, we are in dire need for Allah’s help and victory! How tired and crushed we are from injustices that are happening every day on our backs! How poor we are, with all the wealth and bounties of Allah which has given in our lands, which are being robbed daily. How weak and powerless we are towards the tyrants and transgressors, which are rampant in every place! Then, hasn’t the time come that with our hearts, words and good deeds, sincerely to repent and humble ourselves and return to God that we may be helped by Him and that we may be proud of our religion and our faith?

It is our turn, we must move for a change and once we do that we shall see the rays of help and victory that is if we always proceeded towards the rising of the sun and not where it sets.

“O you who believe! If you will help (the cause) of Allah, He will help you and plant your feet firmly (to make you strong.” Muhammad: 7

O God! Guide us in your path. Forgive are sins and help us with your power and your victory. AMIN! Wel Hamdu lilahi rabbil alemin.
